The Seven, Q3

Welcome back to The Seven:  Macro to micro, a quick quarterly melange of people-space-stuff type things The Refreshed Home thinks you’d like to know about.

In design and real estate, many consider Q3 to be a time of planning, which is why this edition hits on vocabulary, philosophy, big picture, and strategy. Let’s Go!!

Yes or No: Color? YES! Color is life! Saturated, and with grayed undertones its impactful but softer. Some blue-greens this go-round.

Most challenging/rewarding space to work with? Between the ears.  Trust and communication is everything.

Big and getting bigger? Biophilic design. From Greek “bio” meaning life, “philic” is love of what is alive. Move over ‘organic’.  Our cells are programmed to love and respond to nature. Materials, design, and construction that together connect users with the natural world to promote wellness. Read more here (I promise you’ll never see space or materials the same way again.)

Don’t Say This, Say This: De-clutter, de-personalize. Old and obnoxious. Yes to its concept;  but edit, lighten up, and curate gets to the point without the shaming.

Secret ingredient? Heart. You gotta have heart….

Virtual staging? Depends.  Focus on buyer pool and their expectations. Cost and ease are seller issues. What buyer problem are you trying to solve?

Newest crush? Fandaliers!  A good look and it’s even fun to say!  A hybrid product combining ceiling fan function with the more pleasing aesthetics of a light fixture.

Design trade shows and product launches abound in Q3, so look for trends and product round-ups in the next, Q4 edition of The Seven.
