Enough
2025 has been a busy, challenging year for most of us. This year, and especially this holiday season it feels particularly urgent to make sense of things: Regain our equilibrium, enjoy the holidays, and enter the New Year centered and purposeful.
End-of-year lists are entertaining, but Words of the Year encapsulate things for me. I like the insight, but like Color of the Year, sometimes wowzer, other years, not so much. If you do a Google search, you’ll find a lot of goofy contenders this year.
Then the word “enough” started showing up in all sorts of ways.
I looked it up. Understood as what’s needed or required, also as gratitude for the same. It can be both internal or external. The latter – a line in the sand, a pushback for change in the face of something undesirable or unacceptable. Or internal, a la Love Actually’s Mark, a gentler personal decision to put something unrequited behind him and move forward.
“Enough” can be any mix of aspiration or affirmation; assessment, raised awareness, or an action taken. It’s sustenance and empowerment, no matter the circumstances. And when we’re confident of it, we are calmed, centered, and purposeful; freed up to get on with the rest of our lives, doing great things.
Being in the people-spaces-possessions-problem solving-hopes-dreams-peace of mind business is about more than what something looks like, or what it costs. So, as always, many thanks for reading along, and being on this journey with me. May we all have ‘enough’, in all ways – to get us through this next week, and into a meaningful and satisfying 2026.
CHEERS! May the New Year treat you and yours gently.
