Commercial Reinvention: Yorktown
YORKTOWN FUNERAL HOME
Background
A modern, nicely done but unpopular diner closed. The new owner had a very different purpose and needed to reinvent the image as well as the physical building.
Challenge
My client was expanding into a new market. We needed to replace every memory people had of what this space used to be (and that they didn’t like it), with an immediate and consistent vision that was fresh, welcoming, appropriate and memorable.
Solution
First impressions are everything, two projects were especially impactful: First, painting the exterior. A deeper, richer tone on the stucco gave the building more presence and brought out the best in the fieldstone base.
Next, we created an entry to remember: removing the front desk, building a ‘living wall’ in its place. Real, live green plants were serene, healthy, and most importantly, decidedly different from what locals remembered about this space.
Dear Marie
Another successful project! Thank you for the amazing work you did with my new funeral home. You reinvented a very different, existing building with new color, and designed an entry I love. The drapes and carpeting complete the feeling of warmth and serenity that welcome each person as they walk through my doors. You made the space comfortable and inviting, thank you!
