Widespread vaccinations are helping us gingerly venture out into the world again, but many in the social services sector know the hard work that lies ahead. Consults for a Cause continues, with Family Services of Westchester being March’s designated charity.

Founded 67 years ago, FSW provides mental health and social services to strengthen and support families, children, and individuals at every stage of their lives.

With over 450 dedicated professionals, pre-COVID FSW was serving 30,000 Westchester County individuals annually. Programs for children and families include Early Head Start, Adoptive and Therapeutic Foster Care services. Also, outreach to the senior, caregiver, veteran and HIV communities.

Initiatives launched in 2020 in response to the pandemic include

• Grocery shopping and delivery service for vulnerable neighbors
• Collecting gently used tablets and laptops to support remote learning for low-income students
• PSSP, a special program offering support and necessities to clients and their families who had tested positive for COVID-19.

Consults for a Cause lets you help while being helped.

Every month TRH redirects 8 hours of consult fees to a chosen charity. Simply, instead of paying TRH, you write a check to the charity. Besides the joy of giving, and knowing you’re helping to make a difference, clients don’t pay sales tax, and get its full value as a tax deduction.

Many thanks to The Cipolla family, the Wein family, and Heather Panessa of Five Corners Real Estate. Last month, their consults donated $1410 toward basic home furnishings of a client who just aged out of foster care, via Hearts to Homes.
